ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Kara Graetz is a Workforce Development Programs Operator within the Bozeman Job Service, and Montana Department of Labor and Industry, where she specializes in federal re-employment programs helping guide in-transition individuals through training opportunities and into the workforce. Additionally, she serves as the Director of Gallatin County’s Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) Program, comprised of local professionals from both the private and public sector, dedicated to promoting business health and economic development in our community. Within this, she oversees the local administration of the Department of Labor’s Incumbent Worker Training Grant Program and sits on several MEDA (Montana Economic Developers Association) economic development councils.

The Bozeman Job Service is the local arm of the Montana Department of Labor and Industry’s Workforce Services Division. They offer numerous resources and experts dedicated to helping you do business in Gallatin County. For example, the Business Services Program provides enhanced resources to business customers that go beyond the traditional labor exchange of matching job seekers to employer's openings. A large majority of the businesses in Gallatin County are small operations, lacking human resource departments. This program provides an opportunity for Business Services experts to fill this need by providing assistance with the A to Z’s of human resources.

This includes:

  • Employee benefits design
  • Employee discipline issues, including motivation and productivity
  • Job description development and effective hiring procedures
  • Personnel laws and policies, including employment and human rights law
  • Labor market information
  • Human resources guidance, including employee handbook development.

Workforce Consultants with expertise in business services are available in each Job Service office, across the state. All services are customized to meet the needs of the individual business customer.
